Fuel Systems for Forklifts

Forklift Fuel System - The fuel systems task is to supply your engine with the gasoline or diesel it requires so as to work. If any of the fuel system components breaks down, your engine will not run right. There are the major parts of the fuel system listed beneath:

Fuel Tank: The fuel tank holds the fuel. The fuel from the gas station pump, moves from the tank travels down the gas hose into your tank. In the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge the amount of gas is within the tank.

Fuel Pump: In nearly all newer cars, the fuel pump is typically placed within the fuel tank. Various older vehicles have the fuel pump connected to the engine or positioned on the frame rail among the tank and the engine. If the pump is in the tank or on the frame rail, then it is electric and runs with electricity from your cars' battery, while fuel pumps that are connected to the engine utilize the motion of the engine to be able to pump the fuel.

Fuel Filter: Clean fuel is essential for overall engine life and engine performance. Fuel injectors have tiny openings that could block with no trouble. Filtering the fuel is the only way this can be avoided. Filters could be found either before or after the fuel pump and in various instances both places.

Fuel Injectors: Most domestic cars made after 1986, came from the factory with fuel injection. A computer control opens the fuel injectors so as to allow fuel into the engine, that replaced the carburator who's job initially was to perform the mixing of the fuel and air. This has caused lower emission overall and better fuel economy. The fuel injector is basically a small electric valve that closes and opens with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or in small particles, and can burn better when ignited by the spark plug.

Carburetors: Carburetors have the job of taking the fuel and mixing it with the air without whatever involvement from a computer. Carburetors need regular tuning and rebuilding even though they are simple to operate. This is one of the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors rather than fuel injection.
